What we’re about
Welcome to the 2007 edition of the Oregon Wrestling Classic - - one of the world’s largest amateur wrestling events in terms of number of participants. We sincerely hope your stay with us is memorable and that you find our multi-tournament enjoyable.
For over twenty years an all-volunteer committee has worked hard to continue our Classic tradition of offering many different amateur wrestling styles and divisions. Our breads and butters are the four core tournaments (high school dual meets, college duals meets, kid’s age groups and women’s age groups). Along the way, we have also brought you other wrestling styles (freestyle, sumo and more), tournaments (college open and team brackets ) and other special events (cultural exchanges and exhibitions.)
The average fan sees all the wrestling but does not understand why we go through all this folderol. The Classic was organized with several basic goals in mind:
To put on a quality event.
To provide a setting that offers many levels of wrestling that gives a vision to younger wrestlers of what is possible.
To promote a sport we love but which does not receive much recognition.
To raise some monies for wrestling programs that have been underfunded because of Title IX ramifications.
Please join with us to make this another memorable Oregon Wrestling Classic. The admission fees for this year's event will help us to achieve these goals. Thank you for your patronage.
